Christmas is not the same without a blues concert from Michael Juan Nunez (MJN) at the Richard Sale Barn. For the third time, MJN will do his dynamic thing on Saturday, Dec. 18 at the Barn, which is located at 307 S. Henry St. in Abbeville. Always a smoke free concert, the doors open at 6 p.m. with the music beginning at 7 p.m.
Vermilion Parish (Erath) native Michael Juan Nunez is known as one of the South’s best blues slide guitarists. He will take you on that journey through the sounds of the blues with his Louisiana/Delta style.
His original songs are as unclassifiable as MJN himself. Hear music filled with haunts of bar fights, Louisiana politics, long lost friends and Zydeco greats–songs of love, hate, becoming clean and in between.
Regardless of the subject, MJN rarely lets up on the throttle, producing bombastic rides, bluesy romps and sweet, greasy soul music. No one can call MJN conventional, just listen to “Coming Home” on his American Electric CD filled with a gospel overtone. It’s like being in a dream.
You can go to his Web sit, www.myspace.com/michaeljuannunez, to catch a preview of this amazing event.
