Yvette Landry will perform her original songs in the good ‘ol country music style at the Richard Sale Barn as the premier concert of the 2011 Spring series on Saturday, Feb. 19, 2011. The Barn is located at 307 S. Henry St. in Abbeville. Always a smoke free concert, the doors open at 6 p.m. with the music beginning at 7 p.m.
Yvette Landry might be remembered as playing bass for the Lafayette Rhythm Devils and the Bonsoir, Catin band. But if you have not heard Yvette lately, you have not heard Yvette.
Her debut solo CD “Should Have Known” is not Cajun but vintage country. She nails the country ambience with references to honky tonks, heartaches and hangovers, not to mention bedroom tension, pickup trucks and battered, old guitars. Be prepared to be blown away by songs comprised of homemade honky-tonk that’ll knock you off your boots!
Several tracks, such as the Cajun fiddle-peppered rockabilly title track and the swinging “Blue Moon Girl,” are five-star specials that feature flashy, in-the-honky-tonk- solos from Red Stick Ramblers’ electric guitarist Chas Justus, steel guitarist Richard Comeaux and Wilders’ fiddler Betsie Ellis. The clippity-clop beat of “One More Broken Heart” has an early Ray Price feel while “Jack” is flat-out bluegrass.
Yvette has toured the world as a multi-instrumentalist performing with the likes of BonSoir Catin, Balfa Toujours, Red Stick Ramblers, Pine Leaf Boys, Walter Mouton, Steve Riley, Dirk Powell, Donna the Buffalo and many others.
This and all concerts and events in the upcoming Spring Series will be an opportunity to experience A special night of music in a unique amphitheatre setting with a limited number of 100 tickets sold.
